Banksia
Banksia continues the award-winning collaboration between MAB and architects McBride Charles Ryan (MCR).
Inspired by the Australian native flower, Banksia is the pinnacle of Australian architectural design. The circular floorplan allows for each apartment to view water, city or park, while nautical inspired design has bought the façade to life.
Despite being a boutique project with only 108 apartments, the product mix offered plenty of variety. Levels 1 to 13 feature a mix of larger than average apartments with one-bedrooms starting at 62sqm, through to a spacious 165sqm three-bedroom option. Levels 14 to 16 feature Banksia’s generously proportioned Skyhomes offering between 3 and 4 bedrooms with sizes ranging between 248-264sqm. Finally level 17 features 2 penthouse apartments which can be configured for up to 4 bedrooms and three living zones, occupying an enormous 365-375sqm.
The rooftop Banksia Club houses the building’s communal facilities including BBQs and outdoor dining, gym, sunken lounge, grand piano, kitchen and three plunge pools with enviable views across Victoria Harbour to Melbourne’s CBD.
Built as part of the Banksia project, NewQuay Central Park, surrounds the foot of the building and adds 4600sqm of green space to the Docklands area. The park, featuring many Australian species, has quickly becoming a meeting point for local residents with the building’s iconic façade providing a picturesque backdrop.
