Banksia a Hit at Open House Melbourne

On Saturday 28th July, Banksia graciously opened its doors for curious members of the public to see inside.

As part of this year’s Open House Melbourne program, over 700 people were taken on tours of the building, talked through the design inspiration of the façade, shown an apartment and the Banksia Club rooftop on level 18. Many of the visitors lived or worked in the area and had been watching the construction process, others had been admiring the unique façade as they drove over the Bolte Bridge. All were excited to finally see inside.

The rooftop facilities were, by far, the highlight of the tour. While the colourful furnishings divided audiences, everyone was wowed by the stunning views across Victoria Harbour to the city.

Now in its 11th year, Open House Melbourne has allowed the public access to buildings of architectural significance. This year’s program included 220 buildings across the Melbourne.
