HOYTS to Launch at Waterfront City

A cinema for Docklands has moved a step closer after the developers of Waterfront City Melbourne, Ashe Morgan, signed HOYTS as its anchor tenant in its proposed multimillion dollar entertainment and leisure precinct.

The proposed new cinema complex is another component of Waterfront City Melbourne’s major redevelopment that’s already underway to reposition the centre as a shopping and entertainment drawcard located on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD.

HOYTS cinema plan to have eight screens with state of the art Dolby Atmos sound in all auditoriums. Every seat in every cinema will feature HOYTS’ new revolutionary powered recliners giving every guest the chance to experience movies in complete comfort.

The complex is planned to include two HOYTS Xtremescreen auditoriums offering guests the biggest screen with the best sound.

To complement the cinema going experience, HOYTS is planning to offer an expanded food and beverage offering, including a selection of hot foods and licensed beverages to consume during the movie.

“Enhancing the customer experience will ensure that the cinema remains Australia’s number one form of entertainment” said Damian Keogh, CEO of the HOYTS Group.

“Hoyts is reinventing the cinema experience with the recent introduction of HOYTS power recliners at six locations around Australia. The HOYTS Waterfront City complex will continue this.

We’re excited to be a part of the rejuvenation happening at the Entertainment Leisure Precinct at Harbour Town Docklands – it’s the perfect fit for HOYTS. And we can’t wait to keep pushing ourselves to continue to create cinemas of the future.”

Alton Abrahams, Principal at AsheMorgan, owners of Waterfront City, said AsheMorgan are excited to enter into a partnership with HOYTS.

“We are pleased to partner with HOYTS, a market leader in the entertainment industry that has a solid vision and continues to lead the guest experience for movie goers,” Mr Abrahams said.

“We’re confident that the addition of the HOYTS cinema complex will entice movie goers from across Melbourne to visit Waterfront City and enjoy the unique shopping and entertainment experience the centre is set to offer.

“It’s great to see our vision for Waterfront City coming to life, and with the commitment from  HOYTS, it represents another step towards the centre’s transformation into a leading leisure and retail destination.

A planning permit application will be lodged with the City of Melbourne in late 2015 and subject to planning approval, construction of Waterfront City’s entertainment and leisure precinct is scheduled to start late in 2016. Alongside the 8 cinema complex an array of dining and entertainment options will be available.

The redevelopment of Waterfront City Melbourne is progressing well with construction of the transparent roof canopy and the Centre’s ambience project well under way.
