NewQuay Art, Parks & Events
People are drawn to NewQuay for a host of exciting reasons.
Whether it's celebrating a special occasion or challenging
your perspectives on art, NewQuay has something for everyone.
Like the precinct itself, NewQuay's impressive public art
collection is continually evolving. Among the most prominent pieces
to date is Outside Inside Out by Matthew McCarthy (in collaboration
with Andrew Trevillian).
Inspired by internationally renowned Australian artist Howard
Arkley, this raw and elegant play of type, words and meaning stands
an imposing four storeys tall. Another is Silence by Adrian
Mauriks. Set strikingly on NewQuay's bustling promenade, its
organic white forms suggest a respite from the energetic pace of
everyday life.
The art forms an inspiring backdrop to NewQuay's regular
calendar of eyeopening events. From boat shows in summer to superb
food celebrations, each is as diverse as the community.
Thousands of visitors are welcomed each week. Leisurely
winding their way through the precinct's enviable array of
food, wine and entertainment options, it's a superb way to
taste the good life. Of course, kids love NewQuay too - from
delicious gelato to the fun of feeding seagulls, they're sure to be
constantly entertained.
